this year end issue of Liberation named "Hearts Of Palm" the 5th best release of 2000
5) Listening to 'Hearts of palm', one is staggered by the chronic lack of success of this miraculous group. Jeff Martin, the only real head man, doesn't deviate much from his minimalist system, but this album (very hard to find) embodies the quintessence of his meticulously crafted art. Occasional whispers, guitars in gravitationless flight and a crackling nocturnal folk-rock atmosphere. And almost imperceptibly, the electronics comes on the scene. 'To be the One', with its climatic overlays, hints at what Idaho could become if Jeff Martin, as he declares, got bored with guitars. Overwhelming.
