Idaho-Year After Year (Caroline)

Idaho probably could be categorized as one of those out of nowhere surprises of 1993. Year After Year is one of those records that grows and grows on you. Nice, sad, minor key melodies and subdued feedback guitar flows courtesy of John Barry. Jeff Martin’s vocals are understated and a little bit overwrought, almost with an English, sort of Julian Cope feel (I’m not sure if that’s good or bad). The songs themselves are sparse and haunting, almost beggin you to play them when you’re at your lowest. I know I will be. –Drone # 3
