Year After Year
This album will immediately be categorized with the recent
crop of sedate, feedback-laden guitar bands like Bailter
Space, Codeine, Seam, and Bedhead, and rightfully
so. There’s really nothing new here,
but this package has all the Galaxie 500-isms you
could ask for: meandering melodies,
soaring and whiny guitar leads, low-key vocals, and one to two-word titles like
“Skyscrape”
and “Endgame.”
An exceptional and thoughtful album, you’ll especially savor it if you’re
depressed and white.
